System does not boot while HDD is attached

Hi everybody
Recently I have got a 500 GB SATA Maxtor Hard disk. I tried to change the size of some partitions I had created formerly with Partition Magic. This time with Paragon Hard Disk Manager. In the middle of the job the system said 'DISK FAILED' ! I re-started the system nad then THE SYSTEM DOES NOT BOOT. It even does not show the boot process. Seems only fans are working.
I used my previous HDD that was an IDD one, I mean those 12 pin ones. Well the system boots properly while this one is installed!!!

What should I do with my new HDD?!!! Please HELP ME !

You didn't mention which operating system you are using and if u are using windows versions use a hirens boot cd which is a live cd where can use it for live operating system. also check in bios whether the bios is detecting ur harddisk or not. check the cables once again so that some thing went wrong with the bus. if u have any doubts mail me or visit me at www.coolpctips.com

Hi
I appreciate you for answering my question but it has been 2 years since I posted this. The problem was caused by low power that damaged the hard drive and it was replaced. Changing the power adapter solved the problem.
